Who We Are
Doug Appleton - President
Doug has been playing lacrosse for more than 35 years, starting in his hometown of Severna Park, Maryland where he played organized lacrosse from the age of seven. He played for Brown University (1982-86), after which he played for the Maryland Lacrosse Club for eight years and was selected to try out for the US world team as a defensive midfielder in 1994.
In 1998, Doug moved to San Francisco, California where he now coaches his three sons' youth lacrosse teams and serves as the Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association. He has lectured at conventions and coaching clinics in California and at the US Lacrosse Convention. Doug continues to play competitive lacrosse in tournaments around the world for the Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club and the Crease Monkeys elite and masters travel teams.
Throughout Doug's playing career, the tradition and culture of the sport were emphasized and taught. With the rapid growth of the sport throughout the country, he wants to help teach and emphasize the traditions and culture of lacrosse, particularly in areas that are new to the sport.
Doug started Talon Lacrosse with a simple mission of providing high end, traditional equipment that can be used to teach the tradition and culture of the sport and help shape the next generation of lacrosse players.

Cort Kim - Vice President
Cort has been playing and coaching lacrosse for over 20 years. He began playing relatively late, especially by today's standards, when he picked up a stick for the first time at the end of his freshman year of high school. He and his twin, Blake, have yet to put their sticks down.
Cort's playing career has earned him All-America honors at both the high school and collegiate levels as well as induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater, the University at Albany, New York, in 2002.
His proudest playing moment occurred in the summer of 2002 when he represented South Korea in the World Lacrosse Championships in Perth, Australia. He continues to play competitive lacrosse in tournaments around the world for the Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club and the Crease Monkeys elite and masters travel teams.
Cort's coaching career includes nationwide camps and clinics for youth and high school players; he was assistant coach of the 1994 NCAA Division II National Champion and the 1995 NCAA Division II runner-up Springfield College Pride. While living in Phoenix, Arizona, he coached the Desert Vista High School boys program to the 1st Arizona State Championship in lacrosse in 2000.
The Talon vision mirrors the manner in which Cort approaches the game of lacrosse—with honor for those from whom he has learned and continues to learn this great game, as well as respect for those who share the field with him.

Blake Kim - Creative Director
Blake has been playing and coaching lacrosse for more than 20 years. He was introduced to the sport of lacrosse the day his twin brother, Cort, brought home a friend's lacrosse stick. They took turns learning how to throw and catch with that single lacrosse stick until it was decided that they each needed their own. Their first sticks had wood shafts.
Alongside his brother, he played at the University at Albany, New York, where he, too, was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He represented South Korea in the summer of 2002 in the World Lacrosse Championships in Perth, Australia, and he continues to play competitive lacrosse in tournaments around the world for the Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club and the Crease Monkeys elite and masters travel teams.
Blake has extensive coaching experience at nearly every level of lacrosse, ranging from youth and high school lacrosse camps and clinics in New York, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii and California, to a one-year assistant coaching stint with Division III Skidmore College in the early 1990s. He most recently served as a coach with the Ross Valley boy's youth lacrosse club in Marin County, California from 2003-2006.
Blake believes that the Talon line of products will help open the door for players (both young and old) to gain a better appreciation of the intrinsic spirit of the game of lacrosse.
